46 Days

I figured I would at least let my friends and family know that I was alive and well while in Uganda, and what better way than with a blog that I don't have the slightest clue how to write?!

So here are the basics:

  • Leave for Mbale, Uganda in 46 days
  • Come back July 11th
  • Layover in Dubai each way (how sweet is that?!)
  • Going with I Choose You Ministries
  • I am terrified of flying

For those of you who know me well, you know I am a planner....so naturally I have the days numbered in my calendar for when I will be leaving :)  The more I get to meet up with the other people who will also be in Uganda with me, the more my excitement builds!!  God has really planned this one out for me.  Missions have been on my heart since last summer, so I have been looking for the door that He would open.  He used the opportunity for Greenhouse, a missions equipping class at church, to get this whole thing rolling.

I felt drawn to Africa during prep for the class and prayed for affirmation, which He delivered in a really cool way!  While in church one Sunday the mention of Africa caught my attention during a song, which was weird but not too crazy.  I was totally blown away when we sat down and my friend offered me a piece of gum and there was an African proverb on the inside...now THAT blew my mind.  I knew the Lord was answering, and to top it off my mom was in town for that service!  I had my heart set on Juba in South Sudan, but with that falling through I was feeling discouraged about where I felt led.  Of coarse the Lord picked me right back up by giving me a friend in Greenhouse that kept talking about Uganda.  It stuck in my mind and I decided to pursue it. I asked if I could go and I told them I was willing to stay as long as I could, and decided to stay and extra two weeks with a new friend. When I went to tell her she told me how she had been so distraught all week about staying alone those last two weeks and was really considering changing her mind. BAM, answered prayer for her and affirmation for me! God is so awesome.

I am pumped for this trip, and can't wait to share how the Lord is changing my life!! He has definitely started by pushing me to rely on His provision and fully trust His heart for me. It would be awesome to have people praying for us while we are over there, Matthew 18:19 says "Again I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven" What a powerful promise!!  Thanks in advance y'all :)
